Become a Member
Marlagowyah Aboriginal Corporation is owned and guided by its members - the people of Halls Creek and the surrounding town communities. Becoming a member means having a say in the direction of the organisation and helping shape the future for our young people.
Membership is free. There are no joining fees and no ongoing fees.
As a member, you can:
- Attend, speak and vote at general meetings and AGMs - every member has one vote
- Put forward resolutions and ask the directors to call a general meeting
- Stand to become a director (if you meet the eligibility rules)
- Look at the register of members, meeting minutes and the Rule Book free of charge
- Raise a dispute and have it dealt with under the corporation's dispute resolution process
Who can join?
To become a member, you must be:
- At least 15 years old
- An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
- Living in the township of Halls Creek or the surrounding Lundja (Red Hill), Mardiwah Loop, Nicholson Block or Yardgee communities, and have lived there for at least 24 months in a row
What We Ask of Members
- Follow the corporation's rules
- Let us know if your residential or postal address changes
- Treat other members with respect
- Attend general meetings and AGMs where you can, or send your apologies
How Membership Ends
How to apply
Fill in the application form. Download the Application for Membership Form below, or pick one up from our office.
Send it to us. Return your completed form to the corporation - [in person at our office / by post to (address) / by email to (email)].
The directors consider your application. All applications are considered at a directors' meeting within a reasonable time of being received.
We'll let you know. If your application is accepted, your name is added to the register of members within 14 days and you're officially a member!
